"Hear this loud and well, Ganton! No longer will I be bound to the deceitful Empire! It shall fall!"

— Zarick to Admiral Ganton, leaving the Imperial Navy.

Zarick Adar (pronounced 'zah-rik' 'ah-DAR') was a Force-sensitive male Arkanian-Miraluka who was born on Arkania and raised on Onderon. He was a citizen of the People's Galactic Alliance and supported the Republic against well-known threats across the galaxy as a PGAF soldier. Prior to that, he served as a knight of the Potentium Followers on Zonama Sekot. Although common rumors arose of the PGA's collapse, Zarick continued to serve under its name and acknowledged the entity as a federally-maintained army on the few planets still part of the alliance, such as Talus and Coruscant.

Early years

An unstable environment prompted many families on Arkania to leave the planet behind. Zarick's parents, Ghomjah and Haiye Adar, settled on Onderon to raise their child. The father, a medical engineer, mostly supported Zarick while the mother, a Jedi knight of KOJ on Yavin IV, was occasionally around to nurture him. While growing up on Onderon, the keen twelve-year-old Near-Human became acquainted with common violence and the law. An example was when he and a group of older delinquents formed a short-lived gang called the "Bomb Star Clan." Before the clan's formation, they and many others were regularly terrorized by criminals stalking the neighborhood. However, as a group, these youths brutally punished criminals, fully clad in black uniforms that shrouded their appearances. Their charismatic human founder, Daniel Morosun, adopted a code for the group. It went as followed: "Not strong, but aggressive. Not compassionate, but civil. Not depressed, but serious. Not ignorant, but well-informed. The Bombstar Clan lights the way."

The virtuous gang carried out deeds that soon roused the authorities. The Onderonian Royal Guard made efforts to catch and identify who the members were. Morosun and his gang eluded the Royal Guard for months in complete anonymity; they operated at night without worrying about being suspected during the day. However, the gang was soon compromised by a double agent during a special operation outside the guard tower, against the crooked Royal Guard Commander. The commander's guardsmen were informed of Bomb Star Clan's arrival and stunned the vigilantes with flash grenades. Each member dispersed into several areas with their vision clouded. Zarick was the first to be detained; his unusual eyes were extremely sensitive to the intense light of the flash grenades. Thus, he did not escape very far. Many Bomb Star Clan members found themselves spending two years at the detention grounds. Zarick and Morosun were fortunate enough to be held for one year on account of good behavior. With their identities revealed to the public, they gained a reputation as thugs, and in reaction, the boys tried putting their time to good use with study and personal development. Additionally, with his baby brother Gourah being highly impressionable, he opted to be a suitable role model for his baby brother. Haiye forbade Zarick from leaving Onderon after hearing about his trouble with the law, but Ghomjah argued to his wife that the detention grounds served their son enough punishment. This statement convinced Haiye to absolve Zarick. Once free, he traveled with his father across the galaxy and became accustomed to unique environments and cultures. Kashykkk was a spot of interest; it was a routine where Zarick and his father hunted large beasts and collected raw components with which they later conducted beneficial experiments. Yavin IV was another zone of interest, as Haiye Adar fulfilled her duties there as a Jedi Knight. The father and son would embark on dangerous journeys, establish alliances, and make uncommon discoveries.

Young Zarick and his mother (inaccurate portrayal).

Mother's demise

As time progressed, Zarick became more versatile in his education and even discovered his Force sensitivity. His mother had asked him if he was interested in training as a Padawan of KOJ. The child declined because of his indifference toward Jedi, though he studied a plethora of their holocrons. Haiye was the only Jedi who astounded Zarick. Not only was she an assertive negotiator on the job, she was also a gentle personality with enough love for anyone she knew. On one fateful night, Haiye was summoned by the Council to accept a dangerous mission, aided by a team of Knights, against Sith starfighters hovering over the planet. Haiye proved to be a keen pilot against tactical starfighters; her Miraluka perception in the Force ensured her team's survival. Young Zarick received word of his mother's mission from the Council and ran off to track her down via starfighter. The Sith starfighters were only a minor threat to Haiye and her strike force. However, the Sith were assisted by Mandalorian mercenaries, cloaked, and packing ion weaponry. Their ion cannons disabled Haiye and her strike force. Helpless, they could do nothing more than watch the Sith bombard them with blaster fire, eradicating them in a fiery blaze. Just arriving to witness this, Zarick became enraged and fired on every enemy vessel in sight, accompanied by his father. The ship he stole from his father was equiped with a powerful offense. Eleven of the fifteen mercenary starfighters were destroyed while the other four fled. Zarick completed his mother's mission from the Council and stopped the orbital threat over Yavin IV.

The Imperial Navy

A few months passed after the incident on Yavin IV. Zarick's father acquired a worthy occupation as security for the monarchy on Bakura and was rarely around to travel with his son once more. It left him traveling solo for a while. Often times he tried to carry out life as a mundane, but his deep-seated urges for adventure would not let him stay idle. One day on Onderon, he walked around town and came across an Imperial Navy placard attached to the side of a market building. The poster portrayed the valiance of Imperial troops and a motto interpreting justice the Empire promised to offer. Zarick was aware of the Empire's notoriety, but did it not prevent making the decision to join them. He walked to the nearest recruitment center in his neighborhood and was screened. Then, he attended the Imperial Naval Academy to gain the basis on military discipline and furthered his education through the Imperial Naval College. There, Zarick tackled the rudiments of combat, naval operations, and drilling until it was etched into his memory.

A few years of basic training served Zarick well within the Imperial Military, as it instituted high-risk tasks to all of its subordinates. The only highlight for Zarick was aerial confrontation, with which the stern Admiral Adrian Ganton occasionally applauded him for. Admiral Ganton was a battle-hardened workaholic who lead his squadron on meticulous operations, forty light starships or so, against pirate hoards lingering near Imperial-protected worlds. Over the year and a half of service, the battles intensified each time the pirates doubled in number. Zarick and his starfleet were bombarded by rains of blaster fire on one fateful operation. Black Sun pirates gathered in aggressive packs and ejected Imperial fighters from the battle. Zarick was fortunate enough to survive. Explosions and blaster fire lit up the dark void of space. As the battle continued from afar, Zarick drifted whilst attempting to repair his TIE Oppressor's engine before the pirates could locate and finish him. Repairs were a minor success, and he drifted away from the battle, regarding his own life, to the closest planet nearby - Yavin IV. Residents from below watched the TIE Fighter dock by the river. The local authorities approached Zarick as he jumped out of the cockpit. They recognized his Stormtrooper armor and escorted him to a detention center for questioning. He was released after a thorough explanation. The Jedi sensed a deep aversion growing in Zarick, questioning whether he was completely devout to the Empire. They elaborated on the Empire's reputation, its predominant origin, and its goal of bringing Sith rule to the galaxy. His reply to this was, "I pledge no allegiance to such authority," and he discarded his badge. All residents in the hall smiled upon his choice. The Jedi showed the warmest hospitality and provided him food, bath, and new sets of clothes. After, he and a team investigated the battered TIE Fighter. They received an incoming transmission from Admiral Ganton. Ganton addressed the disloyalty he heard from Zarick over the active transmitter not confiscated by the Jedi. He was labeled an outlaw of the Galactic Empire. Zarick remarked into the vessel's transmission network, "Hear this loud and well, Ganton! No longer will I be bound to the deceitful Empire! It shall fall!" Afterward, he reached under the cockpit and grabbed a lightfoil, with which he ignited and proceeded to violently slash at the craft until it was reduced to large fragments.

"The Savages"

Years on Yavin IV

Adar as a member of the "Savages" on Yavin IV (inaccurate portrayal).

On one summer day, Zarick decided to visit the old temple where his mother's Order resided across the river. Instead, six rogue Force-users occupied an old, ruined temple as their territory. They intended to mug the young Near-Human and dump his body in the river but failed to do so when Zarick fought back. The gang's leader realized his potential. The gang's boss was more spiritually keen than his associates and did not believe their encounter with Zarick was a coincidence. In time, this band of rogue Force-users befriended him and initiated him as their seventh member. They called him "Dusk" because of his cerulean tunic and dark complexion. Each of them referred to one another with an alias. As a group, they were nicknamed "The Savages" by local Jedi because of their rampant manner. Their leader was a tall, clever Human male called "Neeso," age thirty-four, a reputed master of the Force. He helped Zarick establish a connection to the Force when evidence of the boy's Force-sensitivity arose at their first encounter. They allowed Zarick time to master basic techniques of the Force and set up the "Seven Trials of Courage" as his final test. All together, these seven rogues of the Force fought intense battles with the Sith who constantly invaded their territory. Neeso's group was eventually wiped out after a widespread battle commenced between the Jedi and Sith invaders. Neeso and Zarick evaded the Sith by setting elaborate traps during their escape. The two survivors lured their pursuers to minefields they set to keep trespassers away from their hideout, killing the Sith instantly. They easily dusted off the unsuspecting minions hunting them, but their strong connection to the Force attracted an experienced Sith Master. The Sith Master stood as the last threat. She called out to them, enticing in appearance and voice, proposing they join forces with her. Neeso and Zarick sensed deception in her words. It prompted them to refuse her offer, with which she replied, "Fine. You will suffer the consequences for refusing me!" They stood completely confident having to face only one opponent. All three removed their cloaks, activated their lightsabers, and battled almost to no end. At the outcome of the three-way duel, Neeso was caught off-guard, impaled from a quick thrust of the lightsaber, and tossed aside.

Shocked, Zarick yelled to his wounded comrade but received no reply. His shock transitioned to rage. He retrieved his slain friend's lightsaber, an illuminative blue, and charged at the Sith Master. The strength and speed of the first three strikes caught the Sith off balance while the last strikes successfully hacked off her left leg and arm. Zarick approached the injured Sith Master with intentions of avenging his fallen friend. Without further delay, she fired a wave of lightning at him whilst tossing him over the precipice into the depths of the forest below. The Force guided him on his long descent without serious injury.

The Potentium

Nightfall drew near. Five hours passed since Zarick lied, burned and unconscious, on a cold trail under the trees. When awakening, he spotted a tall figure within the distance ahead of the abandoned trail. Zarick grasped at his utility belt for his lightsaber to signal the stranger but found nothing; the Sith Master he previously faced had disarmed him of it. However, he made use of an emergency flare beside the empty lightsaber compartment and managed to alert the stranger. The two conversed awhile, almost too casually, and a plan was in order. Zarick was carefully lifted aboard the man's ship that set a course into the Unknown Regions. The ship touched down on a mysterious planet. No one was in sight, not even from birdseye view of the landing pad to the buildings nearby. The stranger left a short while and came back with a medical capsule with which he rushed Zarick to a medical facility. The medical center was empty as well. The stranger examined the patient's injuries, wiped away the blood thoroughly, and submerged him into a healing tank. An hour and a half was enough to relieve Zarick's burns. The mysterious rescuer drained the tank, helped him out, and claimed to be a Knight of the Potentium Order of Zonama Sekot. The Potentium Knight was revealed as Christopher Beck. Beck escorted Zarick to a meditation spot atop a large hill where other residents sat in discussion. He met Master Flint Mokeev, Magister Salene Lusch, and Potentium Knight Toad Freck for the first time.

Life on the lush Zonama Sekot was an opportunity for Zarick to continue his training and unlock his latent potential in the Force. Toad Freck selected Zarick as an apprentice and taught him the disciplines of the Potentium Code. Zarick faced a timeless series of trials as an apprentice, his most cherished experience, and reached knighthood before least expecting it. Some time afterward, he left Zonama and sought Onderon. It was after that he was contacted by his father who discovered his whereabouts from a reliable source. The two agreed to meet at the postern of a large government building next to their home. Zarick he encountered his younger brother, Gourah Adar, on his way to the postern. The two brothers both ran to where their father waited. The three reunited once again, reminiscing over each other's recent exploits and telling of current ones.

Zarick experienced a countless series of events within the Potentium Order, most of which were too extensive to document altogether. The council masters assigned him missions alongside powerful allies such as Potentium Master Ford Potez, Potentium Knight Cobalt Ra'ann, Potentium Master Nina, 501st Clone Officer Marcel Dowding, former 333rd Clone Lieutenant Jendon "Green" Horten, and others.

SL - Duel

Zarick and his fallen cousin duel for the first time.

Zarick made common enemies throughout his time, some of which included the Onderonian Royal Guard and a couple of the most notorious organizations known to the galaxy. The Empire became his first prominent foe after he discarded his badge and destroyed his TIE Oppressor on Yavin IV, denouncing his allegiance. He has had a fair amount of encounters with an occult-like organization, the Crimson Blade Sith, as a Potentium Knight.

Crimson Blade ensnared Zarick's cousin, Allen Stonesoul, and pitted the two against one another. Zarick, accompanied by a redeemed Daniel Morosun, sought to turn Stonesoul away from the dark side, though most efforts proved futile. Allen unmercifully defeated Zarick upon their first duel but nearly fell during the second with Morosun entering the conflict. The third time, however, Allen displayed compassion. He tried to convert Zarick to the Sith ideology via dark mind control during a brief pause in swordplay. It did not phase Zarick; he had spent two months fortifying every defense he possessed after the second duel on Zonama. Allen lost his composure over this and shot waves of lightning at him, blinded by rage. Zarick redirected the waves with little effort and struck down the arrogant Sith at last. Zarick approached the injured Sith not to deliver the death blow, but to save him. Unbeknown to both fighters, Allen's master watched the duel undetected from beginning to end. The grim man applauded Zarick's performance, kneeling down to retrieve his beaten apprentice. He stated, "I will take him back to the temple and execute him myself." Zarick objected and chased the Sith all the way back to Jaratenge. He arrived to a temple occupied by a dozen robed figures. The promise was fulfilled and Allen Stonesoul was ritually excuted much to Zarick's displeasure. The temple master spotted him just outside the entrance and ordered his death. Zarick made a hasty withdraw back to Zonama Sekot with a heavy heart.

The People's Galactic Alliance

The Revenant Armada, operating under Sith influence, made swift progress with their control over civilizations throughout the Galactic Core. The People's Galactic Alliance, formerly the Republic Liberation Forces, vowed to defend all peoples in the face of this looming threat. The Revenant Armada became a prominent enemy of the PGA in addition to the Galactic Empire and the Imperial Remnant. Promising volunteers, one after another, stepped forth to fight for the Republic. One of these hopefuls was Zarick Adar. In his knighthood on Zonama, Zarick overheard the countless exploits of the PGA and its forefather, Selkisto Horten. The tales piqued Zarick's interest on mainstream happenings in the galaxy.

While on a visit to see his father at Bakura, the stories he heard were confirmed. A violent skirmish between several Revenant troops and five PGAF Marines erupted on the street. Zarick and his father, former Commander of the Bakuran Royal Guard, took part in the conflict. They witnessed the valiance in the Marines' offense against Revenant troops attempting to infiltrate the royal palace. The five Marines, with rifles in hand and armor fully adorned, executed adroit measures with great correspondence to one another and brought down the enemy without a single casualty. Zarick, ultimately taken by inspiration, sought involvement in the Republic's struggle against aggressive forces. He resigned from the Potentium Order and headed off armed with knowledge from his past services. Within time, he was interviewed by PGAF Recruiter Gene Vaniva and underwent basic training for two months. It is unknown whether he became a full-fledged Marine, though he is now a veteran of the Republic. As a sentinel of Nova Squad, he partook in risky operations on Alaris Prime and Nar Shaddaa to thwart Revenant intelligence. On another note, it was also revealed that Zarick became an intimate companion with a mysterious woman during his service in the PGA, named Yunami Niceru, who defected from the Empire long ago and chose to fight for the Republic. The two were intrigued by one another and longed on getting to know each other on a personal basis. However, their time together was cut short when Yunami disappeared for some time.

Personality

Zarick was a serene, well-educated individual who kept to himself but did not lack social grace. He was a considerate listener and spoke little during idle conversation, unless intrigued by galactic happenings or a beautiful woman. His average activities included countless hours of crafting, breakdancing, reading, training, and meditating. Much of his personality stems from his late Jedi mother on account of peacefulness and tolerance of others. On the other hand, he had a cold nature and generated hostility toward Mandalorians, generally because the mainstream of the generation were a "majority of misfits," he often stated. Perhaps he also disliked these warriors over the reason that Mandalorian hit-men gunned down his mother in deep space long ago. After his time spent in the PGAF military, he adopted a formal manner towards others and situations, using whatever means to resolve an issue, detrimental or not. Zarick appeared grim oftentimes when facing obstacles yet equally brave. Combat wise, he risked his life for the ones closest to him, typical behavior of any other person with a strong moral standing.

Alignment

Although he adhered to the Potentium ideology and was generally benign in his actions, Zarick tended to lean a little towards the dark side of the metaphysical spectrum. This reason may result from fostered animosity and may have been held against a number of individuals and matters he despised. Whatever the case, Zarick directed his darkness only against evil forces, utilizing harmful Force abilities such as Force lightning, choking, and rage.

In urban attire (current).

Zarick stood at an adult human male's height and appeared muscular due to years of vigorous exercise in various military services. His black hair was faded with white sheens over the top and back, developing some of the white hair of his Arkanian father. His skin tone was dark, his face had little facial hair around the jaw, and a thick scar lied underneath his left eyelid. The most unusual trait were Zarick's silver eyes, which allow him to see through the Force when blinded, inherited from his Miraluka mother. His attire included a variety of tunics, jumpsuits, armor, and so on.

Abilities

Zarick had a basic proficiency at repairing AI technology and standard vehicles from his studies at Iziz Technical Academy. He was a natural fighter on account of his military services and has deployed life-saving survival methods in the cruelest of trials, especially during bouts as an Imperial pilot and a PGAF Marine. As a former disciple of the Potentium Followers, he gained a substantial potency in the Force while training under experienced masters known as Toad Freck, Salene Lusch, Flint Mokeev, Susallia Arida, Master Han, and Christopher Beck. Zarick also spoke fluently in four languages and held decent conversations when speaking Galactic Basic Standard, Huttese, Arkanian, and Durese. Additionally, he was an exceptional breakdancer and even incorporated the art form into his fighting style, though he never mentioned this gift.

Equipment

Zarick carried a variety of items with him. The majority of his equipment served mainly as a survival kit while some items became sentimental keepsakes. Besides the armor Zarick wore, his backpack and utility belt contained a custom single-hilted lightsaber, a Velmoran energy sword, a standard issue MB2-A2 blaster rifle, a standard issue DL-2000 blaster pistol, batteries, four pouches, a comlink, a datapad, a music player, a Potentium badge, a key card, a dark-blue crystal, a sage-green crystal, and a canteen.

Force powers

Zarick gained a useful arsenal of Force techniques while training on Zonama Sekot. At the long road of apprenticeship, he had much time to augment the basic Force Push to Force Wave while learning other powers like mind tricks, Force Jump, Force Leap, Force Repulse, Force Lightning, Battlemind, Combustion, and Force Sooth.

Weaknesses

Zarick's hereditary weakness were his eyes; they were extremely sensitive to intense heat or light. This usually prompted him to don a blinder when traveling to worlds with such conditions. He was also allergic to spice and Sagebrush and would acquire a severe case of hives after close contact. His other weakness was his left arm, which was mangled in a disastrous occurrence during his service in the war against the Revenant Armada. The arm has ultimately hindered his ambidexterity and is protected by a white brace, the brace being occasionally removed for a doctor to check the prosthetics holding the shattered bones together.

His influences

  • Haiye Adar - Zarick's tranquil, Jedi mother and a member of the K.O.J before her death. Imparted her spiritual essence and knowledge into his heart and soul.
  • Daniel Morosun - Assertive childhood friend of Zarick. He was the founder of the unsung Bomb Star Clan on Onderon and was a former member of the Ac'Trayth Jedi Order. Introduced psychology and risk-taking to Zarick, helped unlock his potential in the Force, and saved his life in battle.
  • Muzutsu Senshi - An enigmatic Nagai, formerly known as Darth Ravenous. While he was a reclusive individual, Muzutsu demonstrated his versatility in leadership and presented maverick ideas such as new paths the Potentium assume, even going as far as to revive the damaged order. Heightened Zarick's level of intuition and reasoning.
  • Nina - A former master within the Potentium Order on Zonama Sekot. She was a pleasant female Amaran who was well-versed in the fields of healing and alchemy, utilizing her knowledge of herbs and medicine to aid the wounded. Quite possibly one of the most powerful known Force-users and practitioner of melee combat within the Potentium Order. Helped strengthen Zarick's potential in the Force and taught him the value of trust.
