Zadtar Vilt was an old Duros force sensitive trained by the Jedi Order in a consular/ambassador role. For reasons not specified, he abandoned the order the same day he was named Jedi Knight and cut ties with the Order for good. He settled on Mos Eisley, Tatooine, where he tried to carve himself a life as a marshal in a small town of Jilo's Hope. He was also a amateur archeologist, and used that hobby and the antique shop he had opened, as a cover up for his other activities. These last were kickstarted by the subsequent raid and emptying of the town by a slaver group that took all but 3 citizen, one of those being himself. Away from the order but not the ideals of the Jedi, he began an underground network to free slaves all across the desert planet.

During one of his "exodus", he met the Corellian born politician Kel Adran, who was investigating his son Raz's death. He put Zad in contact with Raz's lover, Kalu Sv'raan and together worked to free slaves illegally taken by this organization (perfectly free people even from off planet, taken seemingly at random), that worked on the fringes of whatever law present and beyond the usual slavers present on the planet.

During the following year, Vilt found Kalu to be sensitive to the force and used the girl's fascination with the lightsaber arts to lightly train her and made her tap into the Force. In amidst on the last session, something scared Sv'raan so much that made her hair turn white. This prompted Zadtar to call her "Silverhair". The young smuggler developed some anxiety to having to connect with the Force again, but continued approaching other aspects of training, specially saber arts. Eventually, during one of those training sessions they would find the denizens of Jilo's Hope, who Vilt had been tracking.

After the cartel behind the slavers sent everyone they could muster from the near port of Mos Espa, both Zad and Kalu, together with some retired soldiers turned mercenaries, resisted an brutal assault. Tragically, Zad, already weaken by age and exposure to some dangerous items, was mortally wounded in the fight. Before passing, he asked Kalu to take his saber, and made her promise she would contact the Order for guidance with her talents. Sv'rann honored the first part of her friend's request but has yet to fulfill the promise, somehow scared to meet the Jedi.
