Space AIDS is a rare but highly lethal disease. It's name is derived primarily from the fact that spacers are the segment of the population in which the highest incidence of the disease occur. The disease is caused by a virus which shuts down the host's immune system. While there are documented cases of the pathogens being spread via blood or saliva, sexual contact remains the principle method of transmission. Anecdotal evidence suggests that interspecies-mating may increase the risk of contracting the disease.
