Kiro Dayre was a nomadic Mandalorian mercenary, the sole survivor of Clan Macanti. Born on Dathomir, Kiro was orphaned as a child - and raised as a foundling by the Macanti.

Trained as a Mandalorian warrior, Kiro later became a battle-hardened mercenary - with ties to the Bounty Hunters’ Guild. Kiro would tragically become orphaned once more, after her small clan was hired to protect an enigmatic man. This client offered a sizable payment in exchange for the Macanti’s armed escort. Beyond imploring the clan to remain by his side at all times during the journey, the man refused to speak further - the purpose of his passage, the destination, and the reason behind his need for protection all remaining mysterious.

Whatever his objective, the client would not live to see it. Before the Macanti could safely deliver him to his intended destination, they were attacked by a savage zealot wielding a crimson lightsaber. The clan fought bravely, but all were cut down by the ferocity of the zealot's assault. The protectors defeated, the zealot then turned his blade on the mysterious man.

Though grievously wounded, Kiro survived the zealot's onslaught. She dragged herself to the dying client, who used his final breath to entrust her with a lightsaber he'd been concealing and a name: Elonas Alcorr.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Kiro Dayre was born on Dathomir, daughter to a coven of the Nightsisters. While still in her infancy, Kiro’s mother - Virsett - was banished from her clan - following an attempted coup for leadership. Refusing to leave her daughter behind, Virsett absconded with the child - spiriting her away in the night. The two settled on a lower level of Taris, where Virsett began using her skills in Magick to offer arcane healing in exchange for payment.

Disgruntled by the competition, Pob Cowth - a disgraced Sullustan physician stripped of his medical licence and forced to open a clinic in the lower levels - quickly took note of Virsett’s arrival. For years, Cowth had been preying on the poor of Taris - charging inordinate sums in exchange for his treatments, relying on the little recourse the patrons on his level had to go elsewhere. With a new healer offering her services for fractionate prices, Cowth’s profits began to topple.

Incensed, he set about spreading rumours among the lower levels - depicting the new arrival as a witch with ill intent. Using his own medical expertise, he covertly poisoned a small number who’d sought her Magick - pointing to their sudden deterioration as evidence of her wicked machinations.

Now terrified of Virsett, patients flocked back to Cowth in droves - condemning her Magick as evil. Things would rapidly escalate, however, as a calamity of happenstance.

A small plague broke out among the level - a common occurrence due to poor hygiene conditions and overpopulation in such cramped environs. Hysteria quickly took hold - the denizens convinced the virus was a mystical punishment afflicted upon them by Virsett. Frenzied by Cowth’s rumours - they gathered what little credits they had, offering them as a modest reward in exchange for the witch’s head.

Gantan Dayre, a passing Mandalorian, would happen upon this bounty posting. Seeing the job as easy credits, he quickly agreed to take it - making his way through the lower levels of Taris to Kiro and Virsett’s meagre hut.

Virsett fought ferociously to repel Dayre - her training as a warrior of the Nightsisters almost rivalling his own as a Mandalorian. Despite the ruthlessness of her fight, Dayre prevailed - felling her with a blaster bolt. No sooner had he defeated the woman, he realised the reason for her aggression. In the aftermath of the battle, a baby’s cry sundered the stillness - coming from the next room. To his horror, Dayre realised Virsett had been fighting to protect not only herself - but her child. Bound by creed, he took the baby with him - claiming Kiro as a foundling of Clan Macanti.

The Macanti[]

Kiro was taken by Gantan to the Macanti stronghold on Krownest - an icy world in the Outer Rim. A frigid world of snow and barren icescapes, this would be her home from childhood into adolescence - where she was trained in the martial ways of the Mandalorians. When the time came, Kiro renounced her right to leave in search of her own people - feeling the Macanti were her true family. She would mature into adulthood, forged into a formidable warrior by Gantan Dayre. Their bond was such that he accepted her as a surrogate daughter.

Kiro would work a multitude of assignments, both alone - and with the aid of her clan. While their numbers were few, the Macanti were respected warriors - who demanded a high price in return for their services.

KiroLightsaber2

The mysterious Lightsaber entrusted to Kiro

One such mission saw the Macanti provide the sum of their strength at the bidding of a mysterious client. This man sought passage across the galaxy, offering a sizable payment in return for the protection of the entire clan. He proved extremely secretive, offering a large sum of credits - but little information about himself or his intent.

This mission would be the downfall of the Macanti, the entire clan slaughtered by a zealot wielding a crimson lightsaber. The mysterious client, his true target, also fell victim to the zeaolt’s blade.

Though badly wounded, Kiro miraculously survived - watching as the zealot vanished as abruptly as he’d appeared. Though near death, the client clung to life long enough to entrust her with a lightsaber he’d been concealing. With his dying breath, he spoke a single name - Elonas Alcorr, imploring Kiro to find her. Near death herself, Kiro was lucky to survive. With her clan massacred, and a puzzling mission thrust upon her, she was alone in the galaxy.

Working for Conrad Vos[]

Shortly after, Kiro accepted a job as the bodyguard of a crime-lord named Conrad Vos. She was low on credits, and the position proved to be extremely lucrative. However, during an encounter with a bounty hunter hired to assassinate her employer, Kiro learned a truth she had remained wilfully blind to. The hunter, a Mandalorian named Kyr Prudii, had been hired by a nearby township suffering under Vos for years. Pooling their credits, the impoverished families of the town revealed the true horror of his reign to Prudii - speaking of dozens of children Vos and his crew had kidnapped.

Locked in battle with Kiro, Kyr implored her to look within one of the storage crates being smuggled at Vos' behest. Inside, Kiro found a number of the missing children, huddled together in terror. Vos, it seemed, trafficked primarily in child soldiers sold into pirate slavery. Kiro stood aside as Kyr visited the township's retribution upon Vos - and now harbours the guilt of having protected such scum. Mixed with her drive to find Elonas Alcorr and deliver the saber, she remains determined to redeem herself and the legacy of the Macanti.

Denon Station[]

Striking out on her own, Kiro briefly became the Head of Security aboard Denon Station - reporting to its owner, Supisy Tar'kona. In secret, Kiro would use this position to peruse the crew manifests of ships docking in, and departing from, the station - quietly searching for Elonas. This search would prove fruitless, and Kiro was forced to move on when Tar'kona sold the station to a smuggling cabal.

Showdown on Vandor[]

Kiro would later accept a job to apprehend a dissident fugitive. She tracked the man to Vandor, learning he had apparently taken refuge on the barren, frozen world. Arriving in search of her quarry, Kiro was instead lured into a trap. Her target did not exist - the fugitive was a fabrication created to lure her into the clutches of a cadre of pirates. These cutthroats had previously profited from their joint "business venture" with Conrad Vos, this avenue of credits completely cut off by the crime-lord's untimely demise. Having no way to exact their revenge upon the hunter who pulled the trigger, they instead focused on Vos' treacherous bodyguard - learning her name from his employee records.

EscapingTheIce

Kiro escapes a frigid grave on Vandor

Cornered and outgunned, Kiro barely survived - diving headlong into a frozen river to escape. Raised on the icy plains of Krownest, she was no stranger to the glacial temperature clawing at her as she swam her retreat. What did come as a surprise, however, was just how thick the icy surface proved to be when she attempted to break through. Kiro slammed fist after fist against it, before stabbing at it with a vibroknife. Nothing, it seemed, could pierce the icy barrier holding her captive - her lungs burning for air as she struggled. As darkness tugged her peripherals, Kiro grasped for the mysterious Lightsaber thrust into her care - igniting its blade and cutting her way to the surface. Trudging back to her ship, she escaped her intended frozen grave - but no doubt remains a target for Vos' aggrieved business partners.

Mos Eisley[]

Travelling to the Mandalorian held port of Mos Eisley, Kiro quickly encountered members of Clan Werda - who had claimed the nearby palace as their stronghold. Kiro was warmly welcomed by their alor, an old friend of Kyr Prudii.

In one of the port’s seedy cantinas, Kiro would chance upon Kalu Svraan - who introduced herself as a “third party transportationist”. Svraan intimated an opinion that Mos Eisley was ripe for profitable undertakings - with Kiro warning that an audience with alor Werda should be sought before making any such plans. Kiro offered to arrange this meeting on Svraan’s behalf, the ambitious transportationist agreeing before the two parted ways.
