Overview

Dark Lords of the Sith (aka DLotS) is the oldest Sith Order in Second Life SWRP. It was founded by Darth Padar in 2005.

History of the Order

Origins

Back in the mists of time, there was a Sith Lord of great power and prominence. His name was Darth Padar, and he formed the first Sith Order in Second Life, The Dark Lords of the Sith (DLotS). This is the Order, therefore, from which - whether they acknowledge it or not - all of the major Sith Orders today have originated from. The reign of Darth Padar on Korriban was long and terrible, unsurpassed then and since in its tyranny and violent abandon. It was only ended when he ended it himself in a rage and drove all his supporters from Korriban and vanished into the ether.

After Padar / the Return of Padar

His Apprentice, Darth Mortis was offered the control of the Order, which he accepted for a brief time before he too vanished, leaving the reigns of power to Dark Lady Malice. She brought stability to this Order and removed it to a world called Orion, and her influence helped to rebuild the Order. In due course, she also departed and gave power to Darth Zen and Darth Vega, leaving the Order in a much better state than she had inherited it. Around this time, Darth Mortis came back from the shadows, not taking over control of the Order but watching over it. The rule of Darth Zen and Darth Vega brought a golden age of the Sith, and they even managed to persuade the former Dark Lord Padar to allow the Order to return to the planet of Korriban. For a time, there was prosperity and the Jedi trembled again at the power and majesty of the Dark Lords of the Sith. As is often the case with the Sith, however, harmony was shortlasting. Darth Padar, observing the rising power and influence of the Dark Lords of the Sith, made a grab for power and in a terrible internal war, the Sith split into several factions and Korriban was devastated, becoming uninhabitable. Yet again, Darth Padar vanished into the distance. Some said he had perished in the war, others said he had not and yet others said he had split himself into numerous persons, walking unseen amongst the Sith and wielding just as much influence as he had done, but in a more subtle way.

After Korriban / Byss

Upon this split, two primary Orders were thus formed from the ashes of DLotS: Sith Legends and Sith Legacy (which later became New Order of the Sith).

Yet after these events Darth Mortis stood by the DLotS order, keeping it alive in the shadows. Stability eventually returned to the Dark Lords of the Sith under the reign of Darth Padar's chosen successor, Darth Validus, who led them to a new planet in the Deep Core, Palpatine's former world of Byss. This was once again a time of great power and prosperity, as most of the factions which had fled from Padar's rage returned if not to DLotS but in a coalition of a Sith Empire on this dark planet. It was a fortress world, ruled by the new Emperor Validus, and it was great and powerful indeed. The factions which had split off from DLotS came together on Byss, prospering during this time, and regarding Validus' reign as a great success.

The leaders of Sith Legends and New Order of the Sith all held membership within DLotS during the reign of Validus, though performed their active duties as separate Orders, still wary of a full return to union. Sith Legends, led by Darth Ptas and Darth Malice, remained independent through this time, whilst on the other hand, New Order of the Sith, led by Darth Devarii, finding its numbers dwindling vis-a-vis the success of Sith Legends, merged itself into DLotS, with Devarii taking the role of Validus' Shadow Hand and Imperial Executor. Darth Mortis made a small appearances now and then during the existence of Byss, keeping his presence known and watching over his former Master's Order, whilst watching it grow. Some said that he retained the ability to commune with Padar's spirit; others yet said that he knew where Padar dwelt yet, or those to whom he had disseminated his personality.

Eventually however, Validus, citing disgust at the "in-fighting" occurring on Byss, destroyed the planet and stepped down from his role atop DLotS and the Sith Empire. On a terrible day, he turned the world-destroying guns of his flagship the "SSD Ravager" on his own planet, devastating it and sending the Sith scattering across the Galaxy, before vanishing into the Unknown Regions. It was whispered that the stated reason for the destruction of Byss was but a front; that Validus had some ulterior motive which only he knew and which has yet to be revealed.

The Silent Years: Hibernation

As Darth Mortis was nowhere to be found after the destruction of Byss, leadership of DLotS passed to Validus' second-in-command, the former Jedi Master who became Darth Devarii. With him were only a couple of followers who survived the devastation, most notably his young Apprentice Darth Destius. After the fall of Byss, the capital of the Sith Empire moved to Ziost, which was began as a home to Sith Legends and Sith Ancients. Later, Devarii and Destius brought the Order to this Sith world, creating a temple in the shadow of the great citadel of the Sith Legends. This was a time of slow decay for the Dark Lords of the Sith, the Order losing its members one by one until effectively only two remained; the Master and the Apprentice. Although there were plans to perhaps incorporate Sith Legends into DLotS, this never occurred because of Darth Devarii's long forays into the Unknown Regions ((RL circumstances)) and was away from Ziost for years at a time. Darth Destius watched over the Order as it slept, standing guard tirelessly and waiting for the return of his Master and maintaining links with the likes of Darth Gevecht, Darth Ptas and a secretive and relativly shadowed Sith Lord who broke away from the Sith Legends as Dark Architect for the Ziost Emperor to form his Own Order on the long abandoned planet of Vjun. Darth Kestrel gathered together Sith from many places, including from fallen Orders, and built Vjun into a powerful Sith capital, eventually eclipsing the fading Ziost and revolutionizing the current model of the Sith Empire. Based loosely upon the former ruling structure of Darth Padar and his successors, Kestrel's power grew to the extent that he declared himself the new Emperor of the Sith and faced no opposition from the leaders of the remaining factions. Kestrel began gathering the Sith Orders to himself on Vjun.

At this time, Darth Devarii resurfaced and on advice of his Apprentice Destius, and with the invitation of Emperor Kestrel, relocated DLoTS to the new Sith Capital on Vjun to a large building that Emperor Kestrel had himself created and gifted to the Order, as Kestrel himself was strongly devoted to the history of the Sith, and believed all should know of the Order DLoTS. Destius, however, had observed some of the Sith of Vjun and with his arts as a Prophet, foresaw in the currents of the Dark Side a time when more security might be needed for the Order. In secret, he travelled through the Galaxy and re-discovered the long-forgetten planet of Dromund Kaas, once inhabited by Darth Millennial and his Prophets of the Dark Side. He created a small temple based on the designs of the Millennial's Dark Force Temple.

Here, he gathered all the lore of the Sith that he could find, and created an Academy which he would keep as a reserve in case of further upheaval. In the meantime, however, Darth Devarii vanished again, and has not been seen since. Yet again, the Order was left without a leader, and there were limits to what Darth Destius could do, not having received the final holocrons of knowledge and power to turn him into a Dark Lord in his own right. Resigning himself to yet again waiting years in solitude for the return of his Master, Destius busied himself with training himself in the power of the Force and building up the temples on Vjun and Dromund Kaas. A strange occurrence on Vjun saw the large temple of the Dark Lords collapse into the valley, becoming destroyed utterly. Emperor Kestrel vowed he would replace it and kept his word, although the building he raised as replacement was a pale shadow of the grand temple he had first created for the Order. Kestrel's fondness for the Old order was in question, as he began to doubt the return of strength to DLoTS...

Rebirth

At this time, after decades of absence, Darth Mortis and Darth Validus returned out of who knows where and took control of the Order again. With the assistance of Darth Destius, they set about restoring the power and glory of the Dark Lords of the Sith, resuscitating it. Together, they reached out into the Dark Side, sending a pulse through the galaxy and calling home some of the most powerful Sith of old including Darth Ptas, Darth Gevecht, Darth Adazca and Darth Caliga. These all returned to the core of the Dark Lords, and the Order grew, attracting new recruits and shaking the very foundations of the Sith Empire. Eventually, the Sith of Vjun became threatened by the re-emergence of what was, after all, the legacy of the terrible Darth Padar. Fearing the growth of the Dark Lords in their own backyard, they suddenly and in secret assailed the DLotS temple on Vjun, destroying it utterly and driving DLotS away from this planet. In great fury, Darth Destius guided his leaders and the Order to settle on the secret base on Dromund Kaas, and it was here that the rebirth of the Order truly began.

In time, having expanded significantly and survived the tumultuous departure from Vjun, DLoTS began to outgrow the small temple Darth Destius had constructed. Wandering through the swamps on the other side of the planet one day, Darth Destius beheld a curious stone protruding from the mud. Examining it, he discovered it to have been shaped with the power of the Dark Side, and using his Force-sight, he could see with great excitement that this was indeed the original Dark Force Temple which Darth Millennial had raised over 4,000 Galactic Standard Years before. Clearly, it had sunk into the swamps, and Darth Destius lacked the strength to raise it by himself. Returning to the temple he had created, he spoke with Dark Lord Validus, who sallied forth and with great Alchemy took hold of the sunken temple and cause it to rise out of the marsh, before fixing it to the surface with sorcerous power. The ancient temple had survived relatively well preserved and needed fairly superficial cleaning. Best of all it was much larger than the temple Darth Destius had created and moreover was a massive nexus of the Dark Side, one of the most powerful in the Galaxy. After the Dark Lords moved to this Dark Force Temple, Darth Destius returned to his smaller temple and struck it with a Force bomb, destroying it utterly lest others seek to use it against them.

Current

The Dark Lords of the Sith have settled and grown on the planet Byss in the Deep Core. Here on the surface of the planet located in the Beshqek system, the ancient sith order has increased their power and influence, reaching out to other sith orders, old and new, to begin a new age for the sith.
